Not sure how many jalops were at Watkins Glen today, but it seems that one of the vintage Trans Am cars bit the dust hard.
Just 2 or 3 laps in, the race got red flagged, and from what the announcers were saying, it was just some brake fluid on the track, but when I walked to the paddock for some extra shots until it was cleaned, this came rolling in.
I didn't see or hear anything from the crash, but from what I saw after, there was 2 helicopters that came for injuries.
I'll have better resolution pictures once I get them copied over and edited, as well as a recap of the weekend like !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

It's always sad to see a classic die. But at least it died in the best way possible.

It happened down near the boot. I was at the turn ten grandstand and saw it drive by on the flatbed. Didn't see any other car come in injured from it though. I also noticed after that accident that the posey challenger and a few other cars didn't come back out on to the track. The AMC Javelin came out for the lap with the pace mini but must have went in after that. It was a bit odd.

I don't think it's dead. It'll come back with a reproduction nose-job.

When I went back to the paddock, Posey's challenger came by and went back in, that whole race was odd.

I was there. Below is the car, on the left, before the incident. The crash also involved hitting a photographer who probably shouldn't have been in that location, shooting near a gap in the fence in the boot. Normally WGI is really good at keeping photogs from setting up in the no mans land between the public areas and trackside, though they still have a hard time with NASCAR fans jumping the fence to get autographs during red flags. Here is the article about the photographer, who was airlifted out.

I was racing at Watkins Glen this weekend. We were in the pits waiting for the group 11 race to go out, when they red flagged the race. The cars that did not return to the track were not damaged such as the Javelin and Pat Ryan's Camaro. Some vehicles were having some overheating issues which happens with older race cars. As far as the restoration of this race car; I'm 100% sure that every vehicle will be rapaired. I have been in a racing accident in the past and these cars can be repaired.
On the grid, all of the pit lane workers with headsets were told to be silent about the event. And the key event organizers all disappeared on golf carts extremely quickly.
